Tasty Treats: Silberwirt

Silberwirt

Welcome to Austria Tours & Travel first blog post!

I figured since tourism is hanging by a thread (at least for the remainder of 2020- I’m looking at you COVID-19!) now is the perfect time to finally get around to doing some good ol’ SEO! That’s Search Engine Optimization, which I am told will help boost our website from its current location on page 5487 on Google, to at least 5486. But how to go about SEOing? Page one of my Google search yielded the following advice- there’s the classic social media route (e.g. apparently Tik Tok is now a thing – I do not understand this app at all and trying to make sense of it will probably just lead to me embarrassing myself).

So I’ve decided to try the classic old-fashioned SEO strategy – a blog! Does anyone still read blogs? I have no clue! Maybe the only person who will be reading this is my Oma who will have to figure out how to copy and paste each blog post into Google Translate.

Or maybe (hopefully) a potential future visitor who wants to experience one of the most beautiful countries in the world will stumble upon this blog and find something of use here! Whether it’s booking one of our many private tours offered, or simply finding out which Mozart museum in Salzburg to visit, what Viennese restaurants turn a blind eye to shrieking toddlers, or which Styrian wine is best served with fish, we hope you enjoy our articles! And please email us anytime with questions, comments, or just to tell me that I have used up my exclamation mark quotient for the year. All comments are welcome!

Oh, one more thing: we do not get paid by any of the museums, restaurants, or activities that we mention here. We really just love them, and want to spread that love with y’all!

Let’s officially begin our first blog post with our Tasty Treats category.

Vienna, Austria’s capital, has 23 districts, each unique in its own way! The first district, the district all visitors pass through and where most of the magic happens, is wonderful, but if you have a few extra days in Vienna and would like to venture to any of the other districts, the fifth district, named Margareten, is one not to be missed! And for an authentic Austrian dining experience, head to Silberwirt, where the legit locals go to eat!

They have a beautiful courtyard with leafy trees, twinkly lights, and murals of famous Austrian personalities. It’s all located in a complex called Schloss Quadrat which houses several restaurants (Wolfgang Puck even cooked here for a US tv show!) and cafes.

The Leberknödel soup (liver dumpling soup) as a starter is a must, and then pretty much anything on the menu is excellent! The cheese platter is to die for (see photo above and please excuse the pacifier in the bottom right corner) and of course, no Austrian tavern meal is complete without either a nice cold beer or Weisser Spritzer (white wine spritz).

As is custom in most restaurants in Vienna, it IS advisable to call ahead of time and reserve a table for the evening, especially if you want to sit outside in the summer.

Thanks for reading and see (read?) you next time!

Auf Wiedersehen!
